Best Printer to Buy

If you are like 99% of the population that uses your printer for normal office use and personal use (like printing a small amount of photos), there is no need to buy a top of the line printer. Today most printers are reasonable in price… where they make their money is on INK. (Please read how to buy ink in this blog).

Let me make it simple. The branded printers to look at are: Hewlett Packard, Epson, Canon, Brother, and Dell. I highly recommend all of these. Be aware that HP and Dell can only use recycled cartridges and may be a bit more expensive. However, all the brands listed above are good.

Can ink cartridges be recycled?

Great for the environment and good for your pocketbook. Many if not most of the ink cartridges you buy can be recycled. I’ve listed two links below of companies that specialize in purchasing used ink cartridges. Though both also sell refill kits I suggest you still purchase remanufactured or compatible cartridges for best results. In addition, many office supply retailers will purchase empty ink cartridges by offering discounts or trade-ins. If you do plan to recycle, take empty inkjet cartridges from the printer immediately, put them in a plastic bag with a small scrap of wet paper towel and recycle as soon as possible.

Before you buy your Printer- PLEASE READ

Yes, this blog is all about ink and I will not recommend printers or where to buy printers. However, this is important.. Most printers are very inexpensive today; some will say that they are downright cheap---Why? Because printer manufactures want you to buy the printer and then become dependent on them for replacement ink cartridges. Hence my number one rule- DO NOT BUY BRANDED INK CARTRIDGES. Do your homework and make sure the printer you purchase will accept both compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges. Go to any site listed on this blog, look up the printer you want to buy, and check to make sure that you have ink cartridge options.
One great place to check out for printers (and later ink) is Overstock.com, Inc.
